Tad Krzanowski grew up in a very active modeling family.
His father, a civil aviation instructor taught model-making. From
an early age, Tad and his four brothers competed in most of the
airplane events in Poland and Europe becoming champions of Poland
for four consecutive years in the glider and rubber band powered
plane category.
Tad Graduated from Technical College of Geo-Physics. In 1973 he
came to England and settled there where he worked on model airplanes
for private collectors and museum displays. In 1978, he was contacted
through the local hobby shop by movie producers and was offered
a position in the miniature model department for "Superman
I". This was the start of a 20 year career in the movie business.
Whilst working for Henson's in London, Tad was approached by George
Lucas who engaged him to work at Industrial Light & Magic at
Lucasfilm on the movie "Howard the Duck". Consequently,
in 1986, Tad, his wife Krystyna, and two children, Monika and Dominik
moved to San Rafael, CA. Then also in 1986, Tad received an Academy
Award for Technical Achievement for his inventions used during the
making of the film "Batteries Not Included".
Tad finally moved to Los Angeles in 1993, residing in the San Fernando
Valley, and was a partner of WKR Productions and Golden West Models
for seven years. In May of 2000, he took over Golden West Models
with his wife and business partner Krystyna, who takes care of the
office.
In March 2003 Golden West Models relocated to the beautiful Santa
Clarita Valley. Consolidating the business with their home.
